East Kidwai Nagar Housing - Redevelopment

46 environmental conditions stipulated with clearance from multiple authorities
The National Green Tribunal feels that all environmental safeguards have been taken care of for the Rs. 4264 Crore East Kidwai Nagar Housing Redevelopment Project.
The debris generated due to demolition is supposed to be converted into tile blocks to be utilised then. Air, noise, traffic pollution hazards are certainly there. Chaos is being officially installed but, AND feels. Article says that existing dwelling units are 2,331 against the proposed 4,842 units and existing height is 9 metres against the proposed height of 46.80 metres. Existing 2 storeys are against the proposed ground plus 14, article says.
----------------
".. is no reason for the Tribunal to believe that the precautionary principle and the principle of sustainable development would be violated or compromised, .."
".. It noted that the “environmental clearance granted to the project in August 2012 ensured that air and water quality, municipal solid waste disposal, sewage treatment, traffic management, creation of green spaces, use of solar energy etc. have been optimally built into the project design and implementation”. .."
".. the sewage from Kidwai Nagar East Complex after treatment would be discharged into Barapullah drain which joins the Yamuna .. it be rather discharged into the city’s sewerage system with consent from DPCC. .."
".. the government housing complex being built by the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) would increase air, noise and traffic pollution and should therefore be scrapped immediately. Mr. Suri had contended that the project with three basements would affect the ground water level. .."
".. The NBCC .. claimed that a total of 46 environmental conditions have been stipulated for the project with clearance from UTTIPEC, DUAC and Airports Authority of India. .."

The Article has erred elsewhere when wanting to say about total built up and mentioning FAR instead. So use jurisprudence. AND doesn't know why 'architectural masterpiece' term is used to describe this Project. The (private?) petitioner's plea on air, traffic, noise pollution should have been heard and understood properly.
More of AND's feelers:
Entire character of the area will be affected and irreversible damage to not only this part of the city will be done / is done but it will have a ripple effect and repercussions all over the city. Is this not true? Was this thought of?
Resources are going to be terribly affected, "chaos was officially installed". Is this not so?
Delhi should have a character of low to medium rise sprawled development rather than high rises indiscriminately. Delhi should go for reducing population rather than encouraging the influx of all types of characters from anywhere into the city. Did we err here? Are we not correct?
Delhi can think of trying to reduce crime and nonsense by controlling the population and then becoming a misaal for itself and other cities and states. You differ with this assertion? AND took a chance.

There is hope still. See http://www.indiatoday.intoday.in/story/shahdara-lake-rejuvenation-plan-environment-conservation-east-mcd/1/1020380.html . This is from August 2017. Sewage water from Shahdara households is being treated daily and then pumped into the lake to revive it. :-)
